Hugo Castro is an Associate Professor of the Guatemala National Cancer Institute, and he has worked for General Hospital of Guatemalan Social Security for the past 5 years.

Prior to joining the institute, Professor Castro served as Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the Aguascalientes University Hospital, Mexico.

Dr. Castro earned his medical degree at the San Carlos University of Guatemala. He later completed his internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the San Carlos University, before arriving at the Salvador Zubiran National Nutrition Institute (INNSZ) one of the Mexican Ministry of Health's National Health Institutes, to do a 3-year specialty in Medical Oncology.

Dr. Castro is a member of several professional societies including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He has been a member of Editorial Board of scientific journals, including Medical Guidelines Journal. His major research interest is the breast cancer clinical natural history and tumor response data, to lead to a better understanding of tumor behavior and the more focused application of systemic therapy. He is co-author in investigator in several multicenter clinical trials, including breast cancer, lung cancer, gastric cancer, solid tumors. He is author and co-author of over 15 original publications and more 10 textbook and manual chapters. He is constantly invited to chair committees and he lectures domestically and internationally.

Lourdes Salazar

Lourdes Salazar studied Medicine at the San Carlos University of Guatemala. She then completed her residency in the Internal Medicine, working in the hospitals of the Guatemalan Social Security.

Currently, Dr. Salazar´s work at Department of Legal Medicine of the Guatemalan Social Security. Dr. Salazar has written articles in such journals as Guatemalan Internal Medicine Journal. She has been a member of Editorial Board of scientific journals, including Medical Guidelines Journal.

Manuel Alejandro Menes Hernandez

Manuel Menes studied Medicine at the San Carlos University of Guatemala. He then completed her residency in the Surgery, working in the hospitals of the Guatemalan Social Security, before arriving at the Charité Institute of the Berlin, Germany, where it made his studies in cardiovascular surgery. He has worked for General Hospital of Guatemalan Social Security for the past 3 years.

Cardiovascular surgeons are medical doctors who specialize in surgery of the heart and blood vessels. They generally perform heart surgeries and treat people who have a blockage in the blood vessels leading to the heart (coronary artery disease) or problems with heart valves.

Dr. Saenz is Associate Profesor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, in the Hospital General San Juan de Dios in Guatemala city. Dr. Saenz obtained his M.D. from Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Medicas y Nutricion Salvador Zubiran in Mexico D.F. in 2003, moving on to his Internal Medicine specialization in the Hospital General San Juan de Dios. Dr Saenz is active in a number of clinical trials and is a member of a steering group of several adjuvant gastric cancer studies.

Haezel Quiñonez

Haezel Quiñonez, MD, completed an internship and residency in Ginecology and obstetrician at the San Carlos University. Dr. Quiñonez current research interest have centered on the clinical development maternal and health, food and nutrition and lifestyles. Dr. Quiñonez has written articles in such Medical Guidelines Journal.

Flor de María Guzman

Flor de María Guzman, MD, is an Assistant Physician on the Medical Oncology at General Hospital of Guatemalan Social Security in Guatemala. Dr. Guzman received her medical degree from The San Carlos University. She completed an intership and residency in internal medicine at the same university. Dr. Guzman research interest have centered on the clinical development the worst epidemic of chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes.
